Human Rights First
Established in 1978, the organization aims to ensure the United States is a global leader in Human Rights. Human Rights First within the U.S. and internationally to promote respect for human rights and the rule of law. Responsibilities of the organization include providing legal aid to those who can’t afford and humanitarian aid to those in need.
Over 16,000 asylum seekers in the past 6 years
3,332 active Anti-Democracy & Rights restricting State Legislation items across the U.S.
Targeted attacks against migrants & asylum seekers have increased 70% Since 2023
Our Contribution
Phi Alpha Delta holds a philanthropy week twice a year in support of Human Rights First. We aim to spread awareness and raise money to support the organization. In our first semester working with Human Rights First we raised over two thousand dollars. With efforts from our philanthropy committee and support from the Virginia Tech community the philanthropy is continuing to grow.
